November 22nd sees The Octavian Singers celebrate 30 years with their current MD Laura, and we’re inviting many past members to join us in a performance of Vivaldi’s famous Gloria at 7.30pm at St Mary the Virgin, Horsell. The evening will also include many of Laura’s favourite musical memories from past performances including members’ weddings and birthday celebrations. We have a wealth of memories to draw upon: regular trips to France for al fresco supper concerts; a wide variety of classical repertoire including madrigals and anthems by Byrd, Tallis and Purcell; and jazzy pieces such as Only You, Java Jive and Goodnight Sweetheart. We’ve also been lucky over the years to work with living composers, and items by Anna Tabbush and Martin Read will be included in our concert. We’ll round off the evening with the famous coronation anthem I Was Glad by Parry, and hope that everyone goes home well and truly uplifted!
